The Vancouver Canucks' President of Hockey Operations Jim Rutherford finally confirmed that the rift that has been going on in the Vancouver Canucks will force the organization to make massive changes to the roster, as there are no good solutions to keep the group together in the current environment.
Here's what he said in a recent interview:
With that in mind, trading either Miller, Pettersson or even both of them, seems inevitable.
The insider Elliotte Friedman confirmed that the team has been taking calls for both players and leaked scenarios involving them that fell through.
First, he stated that J.T. Miller almost became a member of the New York Rangers for the second time in his career, with Chris Drury reportedly offering Filip Chytil, a prospect, and a first-round pick to the Canucks.
Then, he revealed that the Carolina Hurricanes nearly got Elias Pettersson before choosing to go after Mikko Rantanen instead. The Canes were reportedly looking to send Martin Necas and "something else" in return for the Canucks' top center.
Even if these trades didn't happen, it would be surprising to see both players still in the Canucks organization at the end of the season.
