This season has been fantastic thus far for the Winnipeg Jets, with top stars Connor Hellebuyck, Kyle Connor and Mark Scheifele all rolling along.
But there's still one major hole with the team, and that has now been identified by top NHL Insider Frank Seravalli, who notes that the Jets are in desperate need of a 2C to become a genuine Stanley Cup contender in 2024/25.
It's very hard to deny this assessment from Seravalli, as the Jets seemingly have all of their wingers rolling, and with a 1C/3C combo of Scheifele and captain Adam Lowry, all they need is a complimentary piece to become arguably the NHL's most well-rounded team.
Three of Seravalli's top-five players on his latest trade list are centre's, with Brock Nelson, Yanni Gourde and Dylan Cozens all available to be had via trade, and while two of them are rentals, they would all fit perfectly as the Jets 2C to play inside Nikolaj Ehlers and Cole Perfetti, and could potentially make them a tough team to play as the Stanley Cup Playoffs roll around.
Hellebuyck's 300-179-43 record made him the third-fastest NHL goalie to reach 300 victories. The only other goalies who have reached the milestone more quickly are Jacques Plante (521) and Andrei Vasilevskiy (490 games played).
In addition to being the 30th goalie to record 300 wins and at least 40 shutouts, the 10-year veteran is the 41st to reach 300 victories.
For Winnipeg, the next month will be crucial in determining whether they remain a dangerous contender and carry on with this top performing consistency.
