The Vancouver Canucks are off to a slightly slower start than many experts predicted, and there are three players as trade targets that could possibly help the team.

Seeing as Vancouver is not as hot as experts thought early in this campaign, a bit of extra roster reinforcement or an impactful add of depth pieces could send them toward becoming an actual contender this year.

David Jiricek

One of the more frustrating situations in the league, this 20-year-old defenseman is a tantalizing upside play as a future power-play quarterback, and there have been recent reports he could be traded imminently.
The sixth overall pick in 2022, Jiricek has seen his development slowed by inconsistent usage and AHL assignments.
The Canucks, with their commitment to young talent, could provide the stability and opportunity he needs. Adding Jiricek would also not only strengthen the blue line but give the Canucks a long-term replacement for the aging veterans.

Marcus Pettersson

With Tyler Myers in the final year of his deal, Pettersson could slide seamlessly into Vancouver's top-four defensive group.
The 28-year-old provides a steady defensive presence, even if his puck-handling is a slight limitation. His reasonable cap hit and pending UFA status make him a low-risk, high-reward option.
Vancouver's GM Patrik Allvin, who worked with Pettersson in Pittsburgh, might see this as an opportunity to reunite with a reliable player.

Morgan Frost

While the Canucks have gotten better down the middle, Frost is at least an upgrade or a complement.
Still only 25, Frost has flashed top-six upside and could thrive in Vancouver's more offensively inclined system.
With Elias Pettersson leading the way, Frost would face less pressure to perform and could rediscover his scoring touch.
Each player addresses specific needs for the Canucks: Jiricek for the future, Pettersson to round out the back end, and Frost for flexibility up front.
As pressure rises on rival teams to mix their rosters, Vancouver could be right in the thick of things through this early trade season.
