William Nylander of the Maple Leafs was sidelined for a portion of the playoff series against the Bruins last season and has now disclosed the reasons for it.

The Toronto Maple Leafs' 2024 Stanley Cup Playoffs first-round series against the Boston Bruins was the talk of the town. As a member of Toronto's "core 4," William Nylander missed the first three games of the series against the Bruins, which the Leafs ultimately lost 4-3 and were forced to exit the first round once more. Nylander acknowledged that he had migraines after the series ended, but the exact cause of his absence was unclear at the time. Now, he's gone into a little more detail.
William Nylander had previously claimed that his vision was being affected by the severity of his migraines. In his native Sweden, Nylander stated in an interview with Expressen.se that he has been working on the problem all summer and isn't too worries about it.
"It's okay. I can get it just sometimes. It comes out of nowhere. Sometimes it just happens."

Have you done anything special about it?

"Yes, there are some things with my eyesight and things like that that I've looked at. But now it feels good."

You're not worried about the season?

"No, I'm not."
Nylander also talked about the Toronto Maple Leafs' poor postseason performance in recent years. He informed Expressen that the team will eventually succeed and that he doesn't think in curses.
Is it that simple then?

"It's not simple, but it will happen."

Today, the head coach of the Toronto Maple Leafs informed the media that William Nylander is slated to start at center during training camp, with Max Domi likely joining him on the wing.
Nylander recently agreed to a huge eight-year contract extension that will pay him $11.5 million a season through the 2031-2032 season. The agreement also includes a complete no-movement clause, which ensures the Swedish winger will be in Toronto for the long run.
