A report from The Athletic has linked centre Mikael Granlund of the San Jose Sharks to two of the top teams in the NHL
After what looks like it will be another solid season for centre Mikael Granlund of the San Jose Sharks, there has been plenty of chatter about a possible move.
With insiders Pierre LeBrun and Chris Johnston playing NHL matchmaker, Mikael Granlund has been linked to two top contenders for the 2025 Stanley Cup.
Pierre LeBrun sees Granlund as a perfect fit for perennial contenders the Vegas Golden Knights.
"Keeping in mind Granlund's versatility and the unfortunate reality of always being concerned about Mark Stone's health, I like the idea for Vegas of adding this kind of depth." Meanwhile, Chris Johnston is predicting a reunion with the Minnesota Wild, who surprisingly sit in second place in the Central Division with a record of 21-10-4.
"A lot of water has passed under the bridge since Granlund was a first-round pick by the Wild who spent seven seasons playing for the organization. Still, wouldn't it be a nice homecoming story? Minnesota could really use a forward who can toggle between center and wing while chipping in with some offense. Granlund ticks all of those boxes..."
Granlund left left the Minnesota Wild on what was not exactly the best of terms in a one-for-one trade for Kevin Fiala of the Nashville Predators in 2019.
He struggled to find a foothold with Nashville, and was eventually dealt to the Pittsburgh Penguins for a short stint before signing with the San Jose Sharks and returning to the offensive threat he once was with Minnesota.
