The Montreal Canadiens made a huge acquisition in Patrik Laine, and he's already proving to them why he was brought in before the new campaign begins.

Patrik Laine, the latest addition to the Montreal Canadiens, is already turning heads. In a recent practice session, the Finnish phenom unleashed his legendary shooting power, forcefully dislodging Hunter Jones' helmet. That's right-Laine's intense shot broke the goalie's helmet, clearly demonstrating why his firepower is renowned league-wide.
Though it's safe to say that Laine would have much preferred to score on the breakaway, displaying his strength this early in camp is undoubtedly beneficial as he looks to impress and acclimate.
Fans and the media were undoubtedly drawn to his performance today, as evidenced by the following statement from TVA Sports writer Anthony Martineau, who noted that Laine's presence is beginning to be felt.
"The Laine-Newhook-Dach line is more comfortable than yesterday. Longer offensive zone sequences. The three guys are finding each other better. Dach, in particular, seems in great shape. He moves well. Laine is agile and very hard to stop once he gets going, but sometimes tries to do too much and loses the puck avoiding some simple plays. Newhook is the least visible of the three."

Although Laine was probably supposed to play with Cole Caufield, he has instead been paired with Kirby Dach and Alex Newhook, and after a lackluster first day, he seems to be making a big impression.
In the end, signing Laine might be one of the best decisions Kent Hughes has made as general manager of the Montreal Canadiens. If Laine can replicate the strength and quickness he displayed in the video above come game day, the Canadiens might be a lot of fun to watch.
