Arber Xhekaj, predictably, now faces a sizable fine for standing up for his teammate during the game against the Toronto Maple Leafs.

Montreal Canadiens fans witnessed two of their best players, superstar Patrik Laine and fifth overall pick David Reinbacher, suffer serious injuries on a very trying night.
The Maple Leafs and Canadiens faced off on Saturday night in a thrilling game. The most noteworthy development from the game was Cedric Pare's attack on Patrik Laine, which may have sidelined the star forward for a considerable amount of time. Shortly after, though, the career AHL player would feel it as physical defenseman Arber Xhekaj would come after him with a vengeance for his attack on Laine.
The NHL's Department of Player Safety has now publicly fined the young defenseman, Xhekaj.
The fine, which is $3,385.42, is the maximum permitted for this offense under the NHL's CBA. The Canadiens blue liner should be happy that he only received a fine, even though the majority of fans thought he should have been suspended.
Laine's condition following the severe collision is still unknown as he undergoes more examinations, but given Pare's horrible attack on Laine, it's safe to assume that Xhekaj's teammates will be extremely appreciative of and supportive of his handling of the situation.
