Stan Bowman, newly appointed GM of the Edmonton Oilers, faces the challenge of managing their complex salary cap situation amid controversy.

According to PuckPedia, the Oilers are currently $354,167 over the salary cap. This situation will require Bowman to either make trades or buy out certain players. Dylan Holloway and Philip Broberg are two potential candidates for such moves.
There is considerable speculation about the cost to sign these players. Oilers Now host Bob Stauffer mentioned that the team likely won't want to spend more than $1 million on each player, with a probable two-year deal. This would push the team further over the cap by an additional $2 to $3 million.
The @EdmontonOilers Dylan Holloway saw significant time in EDM's top 9 FWDS during the Stanley Cup Playoffs and responded with 5 goals. Despite the additions of Jeff Skinner and Victor Arvidsson I have a sneaking suspicion that Holloway will play his way up the line-up this season.
Bowman will need to work his magic to get the team under the cap. As a result, players could be at risk, and even if Holloway and Broberg are signed, there's no guarantee they won't be traded. The NHL has seen plenty of sign-and-trade deals in the past.
The Oilers are expected to make significant moves in the coming weeks since teams are not permitted to start the season over the cap. It will be intriguing to see how Bowman addresses the overspending issues left by his predecessor.
